Compare advertised 3, 5 and 7-day Kenya safari starting prices, resident and non-resident cost factors, park fees and the details to check in your quote.
Savannah Scape currently advertises a three-day group-joining Mara safari from €340, a five-day Nairobi Savannah Classic from €1,350, and a seven-day Best of Kenya safari from €1,810, per person. These are package starting prices, not guaranteed quotes for every date or visitor category. Your final cost depends on dates, accommodation, park entry, transport, room sharing and group size.
3, 5 and 7-day Kenya safari price examples
These examples come from our published package catalogue and cover different routes and travel styles. They are not three lengths of the same tour, and they should not be compared as identical daily rates. The package links below let you check each itinerary and its stated inclusions.
| Length | Published package | From, per person | Style |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 Days | 3-Day Group Joining Safari in Masai Mara | €340 | Group Joining |
| 5 Days | 5-Day Nairobi Savannah Classic Safari | €1,350 | Private |
| 7 Days | 7-Day Best of Kenya Safari | €1,810 | Private |
Resident and non-resident safari costs
Citizenship, residency and children's ages can affect entry charges and accommodation offers. A price shown in Kenyan shillings is not automatically a resident-only rate, and a euro starting price is not a confirmed non-resident quote. Tell the team the visitor category for each traveller and ask what supporting documents the park or accommodation requires. Compare quotes with the same dates, room setup and inclusions.
Masai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo and Nakuru entry costs
Entry charges depend on the park or reserve, visitor category, age, dates and activities. KWS publishes information for the national parks it manages; reserves and private conservancies have their own authorities. Confirm current charges and whether they are included in your safari quote.
| Area | What to verify before booking |
|---|---|
| Masai Mara | Current reserve authority charges, visitor category, dates and number of chargeable entry periods |
| Amboseli | Current KWS entry charges, visitor category, children's ages and any extra activities |
| Tsavo East and Tsavo West | Which park or parks the itinerary enters and the applicable KWS entry periods |
| Lake Nakuru | Current KWS charges and whether entry is included in the transfer-day itinerary |
| Private conservancies | Entry charges, accommodation conditions and permitted activities with the conservancy |
Do not assume that one reserve ticket covers a neighbouring conservancy. Access rules, permitted activities and charges vary. Ask for the exact areas covered by your itinerary and use the relevant park, reserve or conservancy's current guidance rather than an undated fee table.
Accommodation: the lever you control most
Compare the actual camp or lodge, not just a label such as budget or luxury. Location, room type, meal plan and season affect the quote. Ask whether a single-room supplement applies and how children sharing with adults are charged.
- Budget: check bathroom arrangements, meals, power and the distance to the park entrance.
- Mid-range: compare the named lodge, room category and facilities that matter to your group.
- Luxury: ask which premium services and activities are included rather than assuming that flights, drinks or balloon rides are covered.
Transport: drive or fly?
Our catalogue includes road safaris from Nairobi and a Mara fly-in itinerary. Compare vehicle type, private versus shared use, fuel, guide and pickup arrangements. For a fly-in trip, ask about flight fares, baggage allowances and transfers between the airstrip and camp. Avoid adding a flight price to a road quote without checking which road costs it replaces.
What's NOT usually included
Even all-inclusive packages have edges. Read the fine print for:
- International flights and airport transfers — verify each separately in the inclusions.
- Kenya eTA, if required — check current eligibility, fees and processing guidance on the official portal.
- Travel health consultation, vaccinations or medicines recommended for your individual itinerary and health history.
- Travel insurance — compare cancellation, medical care and evacuation cover for the activities you plan.
- Tips for guides and camp staff — ask about the local arrangements and plan a separate personal budget.
- Optional activities — request current quotes for balloon safaris, cultural visits or spa treatments.
- Drinks, laundry and other extras — check the accommodation's actual meal plan and exclusions.
Choosing a trip length
A longer trip is not automatically cheaper per day: it adds nights, meals and sometimes more park entry. Choose a route that leaves enough time for the experiences you want, then compare its full cost.
- 3 days — a focused Mara or Amboseli itinerary, with travel on the first and last days.
- 5 days — compare the route carefully if it includes several parks and transfer days.
- 7 days — more room for a multi-park itinerary; check the number of full game-viewing days, not just the park count.
Seasonal pricing and private versus shared travel
- Ask for two date options using the same accommodation and route. Seasonal and holiday rates vary by property; there is no guaranteed percentage saving.
- Compare group joining with a private quote for your actual party size. Shared transport can spread costs, while a private vehicle may suit a family or larger group.
- Check whether changing the camp or room type saves more than shortening the time on safari.
- Confirm the settlement currency and exchange rate. A display-currency conversion is not a discount or a locked payment rate.
